Mijinemungshing Lake is the largest inland lake in Lake Superior Provincial Park. A day trip on Mijinemungshing makes for a nice introduction to the interior, or backcountry of Lake Superior Provincial Park. A number of campsites allow for overnight trips. There are portages into several other lakes – Almonte and Maquon. Due to the size of Mijinemungshing Lake, wind and waves can pose problems. For anglers, there are special split-size regulations on Mijinemungshing and Maquon Lakes. Access: From Highway 17 via Mijinemungshing Road to a small bay at the north-west corner of Mijinemungshing Lake. At the lake is a dock and, nearby, ample space for parking cars. Mijinemungshing Road is gated during the closed season, from the end of October through early May. Opening dates may vary depending on weather conditions; the road is not accessible until clear of snow and ice in the spring and it may close earlier due to snowfall. NOTE: Water levels are low between Mijinemungshing and Mirimoki Lakes. Old Woman Lake should be accessed through Gamitagama Lake (refer to Gamitagama Lake to Old Woman Lake).
