Backcountry Camping
1. The Experience:
Grundy Lake’s backcountry campsites offer a secluded connection to nature only a short paddle from the main campground. Exploring the lakes, relaxing in a pristine setting, and taking in the local wildlife are all part of the experience. Backcountry visitors can experience the Visitor Centre and enjoy Discovery Program activities at the main campground.
All backcountry campsites are accessible by canoe. Each has a fire pit, picnic table, food locker, and box privy.
2. Reservations and Interior Camping Permits
Campsite specific reservations are available online or by phone up to five months in advance of your arrival date. Reservations are recommended to secure your campsite.
Interior camping permits are required for backcountry camping at Grundy Lake Provincial Park. Permits can be obtained in-person at the park office, open for backcountry check-in from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in the spring and fall, and 8:00 am to a half hour before sunset during July and August.
3. Trip Planning
Basic maps indicating campsite locations are available free of charge at the park office.
Please be respectful of the natural environment and other visitors. Practice leave-no-trace camping, camp only on designated campsites, and be aware of your surrounding neighbours, ecology, and wildlife. We appreciate your efforts to maintain this pristine environment.
